Students will be eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine later this month, Mayor Muriel Bowser announced Monday.
Bowser announced Monday that all D.C. residents age 16 and older will be able to receive the vaccine beginning April 19. GW administrators said earlier this year that D.C. Health officials would treat out-of-state students like local residents during the vaccination process, allowing all students living in the District to soon secure vaccination appointments.
Bowser said everyone in the District can preregister for their vaccination appointment through D.C.’s coronavirus website. She said a new tier of essential employees will also be eligible for the vaccine April 12, including workers in federal government agencies, higher education, construction, information technology and property management.
D.C. Health Director Laquandra Nesbitt said at a press conference last month that all adults in D.C. would become eligible for the vaccine by May 1.
Foggy Bottom residents have struggled to obtain the vaccine because of technical difficulties during the appointment registration process, but the District recently refined its online operations with their preregistration system to resolve these issues.
